Three acts with links to Eurovision have been competing in the fourteenth series of the UK version of the X-Factor. Slavko Kalezic (Montenegro), Berget Lewis (The Netherlands) and Jon Lillygreen (Cyprus) all competed in the Six Chair Challenge this weekend in Nicole Scherzinger’s Overs category in a bid to make it to the Judges’ Houses next weekend.
Jon Lillygreen didn’t make it through with his rendition of ‘Baby You Know’. Controversially Nicole decided to give one of her slots to hair whipping Slavko Kalezic who represented Montenegro at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in May with song ‘Space’ and who had been persuaded to audition for the X-Factor after having met judge Louis Walsh who was also in Kiev with the Irish delegation.
Nicole’s decision has been widely criticised by fans of the show on social media, claiming that the show is ‘fixed’ and that Slavko’s inclusion is at the expense of some of the other contestants that they deem to be more talented.
Slavko will join Dutch national finalist Berget and other contestants Talia Dean, TracyLeanne Jefford, Matt Linnen and Kevin Davy White in Nicole’s home in South Africa next week. Three of the acts will progress to the live shows when Nicole and Stormzy make the decision next weekend.
