Belgium Are First Nation to announce Eurovision 2018 Act!

And so it begins, the first in a long line of artist announcements for Eurovision 2018. Flemish broadcaster VRT (who take it year about with French speaking broadcaster RTBF to choose the Belgian Eurovision entry) have got in there early and are the first to announce their artist for the Contest. Eurovision NI Awards 2017: Full List of Nominees!

The Eurovision NI Awards are back in 2017 for the second ever awards show! They will take place in Belfast on 21st October 2017 from 8pm. Awards will be handed out in 19 categories decided by a panel of experts including established awards; Best Male, Best Female, Best Duo, Group or Collaboration, Best Live Vocal, Best Staging, Best Moment, Best Video and Best Song. As well as honouring the good, we also reflect on the bad with the categories Worst Song, Worst Lyrics, Worst Dressed Male, Worst Dressed Female and Most Cringeworthy Act. New for 2017 is the awards for Best New Song which honours Eurovision artists’ careers since competing and a special award decided by the readers of our blog: The People’s Choice Award. Finally as always we will honour a person who has contributed greatly to Eurovision with the Phoenix: Outstanding Contribution to Eurovision Award. Read on for the full list of nominees!

Montenegro’s Slavko Auditions for X-Factor UK

Slavko Kalezic came to international prominence when he performed ‘Space’ at Eurovision 2017 for Montenegro. The singer became an instant stand out for his bizarre lyrics (Linen is covered with feathers, Wet dreams, Wild nightmares, I surrender…) and his trademark plait whipping dance moves. Although he failed to progress to the live Final, Louis Walsh (who was in Kiev as part of the Irish delegation) convinced him to appear on the UK version of the X-Factor.  Continue reading

Bosnia Herzegovina Will Not Return to Eurovision in 2018!


Balkan nation Bosnia Herzegovina took a Eurovision hiatus in 2017 with the national broadcaster citing financial restraints as the reason for pulling out.
