Douze, a new comedy musical about the wannabe stars trying to represent their country at the Eurovision Song Contest, will make its debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this month. The show promises to deliver ‘infuriatingly catchy songs and frankly dangerous dance routines’ and will run at the C Royale (studio 4) from 2-28 August.
Douze is the brainchild of Xnthony and The Penny Slots and has a perfect mix of music, dance and comedy. Armed with a host of hit songs to choose from, this loveable poptastic comedy will leave you in stitches. They’re making a bid to represent Ireland in the next Eurovision but need your help in picking the winning song. Aiming for Douze Points and European glory, they’ll do anything to get there and let’s face it anything would be an improvement on any of Ireland’s most recent attempts!
The show has already gained a lot of praise winning Best Comedy IYAF in 2016, and critics have called it ‘Stunning… High Energy… Hilarious’ Meg.ie and ‘Genuinely Hilarious’ Irish Times.
To celebrate its Edinburgh Festival launch, the Eurovision spectacular show will team up with OGAE UK to host a gala night at the theatre on Saturday 12 August for all Edinburgh and Scottish based Eurovision fans.
OGAE UK President, Alasdair Rendall, said:
‘We’re delighted to be supporting this smash-hit musical at the Edinburgh Fringe, we’re sure it’ll be loved by Eurovision fans everywhere. We’re also excited that there will be a gala night for Eurovision fans from Scotland and around the world to meet up and, quite simply, have a Euro-tastic night out!’
