10 Things About…Claudia Faniello!

1. Claudia was born and raised in Qawra Malta, along with her siblings Fabrizio and Miriana.

2. At the age of twelve, Claudia began to participate in a variety of television shows and also participated in many festivals and placing in top positions.

3. In 2001, at the Phoenicia Hotel in Malta, she won the ‘Talentissimi Juniors’ – a show organised by ‘Actreact’.

4. A year later she sang live with Malta’s National Orchestra in aid of impoverished children at the University of Malta. She was accompanied by Malta’s ambassadors in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004, Julie & Ludwig and also her brother Fabrizio.

5. At the Mediterranean Conference Festival, in 2003 she sang at a concert with her brother Fabrizio Faniello, and a year later she sang again with the National Orchestra with Nadine Axisa, Fabrizio and Philippa.

6. In 2005 she finished fourth on ‘Hotspot’ – a TV show programmed on Net TV.

7. She won the Festival Kanzunetta Indipendenza 2006 with the song ‘Ma Nafx’ – a song composed by Ray Agius. In 2007, despite qualifying for the Malta Song for Europe 2007 Semi-Final with the song “L-Imħabba Għamja” (Love is Blind). She narrowly missed out on the final, finishing seventh.

8. She released her first album entitled ‘Convincingly Better’ in August 2010.

9. Claudia has competed in the Maltese Eurovision selection show MESC a whopping eleven times. She competed with the following songs; ‘High Alert’ (12th in 2006), ‘L-Imħabba Għamja’ (7th in 2007), ‘Caravaggio’ (2nd in 2008), ‘Sunrise’ (3rd in 2008), ‘Midas Touch’ (in 2009), ‘Blue Sonata’ (4th in 2009), ‘Samsara’ (8th in 2010), ‘Movie in my Mind’ (9th in 2011), ‘Pure’ (2nd in 2012), ‘When it’s Time’ (7th in 2013), before finally winning in 2017 with ‘Breathlessly’.

10. She’s not the only member of her family to compete for Malta at Eurovision. Her brother Fabrizio competed in both 2001 (finishing 9th with ‘Another Summer Night’) and again in 2006 (finishing 24th with ‘I Do’).
