Israel staged the final of their Eurovision selection show Israel’s Rising Star and have crowned Imri Ziv as their winner. Imri will go on to represent Israel at Eurovision 2017, having previously performed as a backing singer in 2015 with Nadav Guedj and in 2016 with Hovi Star.
Imri Ziv had to fight it out against the other three finalists Diana Golbi, The Beatbox Nation and Julieta. In his first duel, Imri beat The Beatbox Nation. He scored at total of 78% for his rendition of Beyonce’s ‘Halo’, while Beatbox were eliminated with 55% singing ‘Hey Mama!’.
Diana Golbi meanwhile beat Julieta scoring 84% to Julieta’s 53%. She sang Loreen’s Euphoria, while Julieta performed ‘My Number One’ by Elena Paparizou. The judges then decided between the two of the lowest scoring acts, choosing to allow Julieta to compete in the Super Final.
The Super Final saw the three remaining acts perform again and this time only the public vote would determine the winner.
Israel’s Rising Star- Super Final Results
- Imri Ziv- ‘Because Of You’ (74%)
- Diana Golbi- ‘Purple Rain’ (67%)
- Julieta- ‘Shikorim MeAhava’ (58%)
Israel now have their artist, but we will have to wait a little bit longer for an expert jury to choose the song for Imri Ziv to perform in Kiev.
