Belarus chose Navi Band to represent them at Eurovision 2017. Since their selection in early January, the band have been doing the rounds on other countries’ national selection shows. Last week, they appeared on one of the Ukrainian heats and after a chat with Jamala, they revealed that they had prepared their own version of the reigning Eurovision champion’s winning song ‘1944’.
The band had translated the Crimean Tatar song into their native tongue of Belorussian. Jamala, who serves as one of the jury members for the Ukrainian selection show, was over come with emotion following the performance and hugged the two singers when they had finished.
