Francesco Gabbani wins Sanremo and Will Represent Italy at Eurovision 2017!


Sanremo 2017 Italy EurovisionThe Italian music festival Sanremo concluded its 67th edition in tonight following a week of concerts in Teatro Ariston in the Italian city of Sanremo. 

On the fourth night of the contest, LeLe won the New Artists category with song ‘Ora mai’, beating off stiff competition from seven other songs. Throughout the week there have been guest performances from big international acts including Mika, Robbie Williams, Ricky Martin, Alvaro Soler and Biffy Clyro.

The main event however was the Big Artists contest. 22 acts had been competing in the Big Artists segment of the festival in the hopes of being chosen to represent Italy at Eurovision 2017. Six of these were eliminated throughout the week and sixteen remained in tonight’s final. In the end it came down to Francesco Gabbani Ermal Meta and Fiorella Mannoia in the Super Final, with  Francesco Gabbani winning with song ‘Occidentalis Karma’.

They have been given first refusal of representing Italy at Eurovision 2017. Have a listen to the winning performance below!
