24 year old singer from Innsbruck, Nathan Trent has been chosen to represent Austria at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest. The announcement this morning came from the Austrian broadcaster ORF, who have chosen the singer via an internal selection process.
The Austrian selection committee was made up of industry experts Eberhard Forcher and Christof Straub who have been scouting young talent from the young Austrian music scene for the past few months. Once they discovered Nathan Trent, they invited the singer songwriter to submit a song to be considered for selection for Eurovision 2017.
Nathan has a real mixed style. He has written songs in the Pop and R’n’B genres, but Nathan is also classically trained having taken lessons in the piano and violin since the age of three. Further to this Nathan has completed a four-year degree encompassing singing, acting and dance in the styles of Jazz, Contemporary and Commercial. It will be interesting to see which of these genres are most represented in his Eurovision song.
Nathan’s Eurovision song is expected to debut in February 2017 and he’ll be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Austrian Eurovision legends Udo Jurgens and Conchita Wurst and win the competition for Austria for the third time.
