Cyprus are the first nation to choose their Eurovision act for the 2017 Contest. Hovig was confirmed as the Cypriot entry for 2017 earlier today when national broadcaster CyBC announced he had been chosen through an internal selection process.
It is unknown as of yet which song the Armenian born singer will sing in Kiev, but he has been working with Swedish producer and songwriter Thomas G:Son who has had a lot of success at Eurovision in the past including penning the winning song ‘Euphoria’ in 2012.
Hovig is no stranger to Eurovision having competed in the Cyprus selection show in 2010 and more recently in 2015 with his song ‘Stone in a River’. He however missed out to Giannis Karagiannis who went on to finish in 22nd place with his song ‘One Thing I Should Have Done’.
