We are gradually being fed the details for the Swedish Eurovision 2017 selection shows Melodifestivalen. Last month we were given the dates and the locations for the six live shows and on Friday, Swedish broadcaster SVT unveiled the three hosts for the contest.
True to form the broadcaster have chosen three names that have not presented Melodifestivalen in the past. This year it will be the trio of blogger, author, presenter and comedienne Clara Henry and singers David Lindgren and Hasse Andersson. Despite not hosting the contest before, all three of the presenters have had some involvement with the show in the past.
Clara Henry has previously appeared in comedic skits and has hosted pre and post shows during Melodifestivalen 2014. Meanwhile Hasse Andersson, who is a Swedish Country Music legend and had competed in Melfest for the first time in 2015 with song ‘Guld och gröna skogar’ which despite being very dated and absurd finished in fourth place. David Lindgren has also has previously competed at Melfest with ‘Shout It Out’ (2012), ‘Skyline’ (2013) and most recently ‘We Are Your Tomorrow’ in 2016.
We will have to wait a little bit longer to find out which acts will compete in this year’s Swedish selection show and until the night of the live shows to hear the songs for the first time. What do you make of the presenter picks for this year’s Melfest? Leave a comment below!
