Jedward to Perform at Queen’s University’s Freshers’ Ball!

Jedward BWitched QUBSU EurovisionIt’s getting to that time of year when thousands of students up and down the country will be starting their university courses for the first time. To kick things off in style, Queen’s University Belfast Students’ Union will throw a jepic party in Mandela Hall to welcome all their first year students at their Freshers’ Ball on 29th September.

Performing at the event will be Ireland’s two time Eurovision representatives John and Edward Grimes a.k.a. Jedward. The twosome have been know to split public opinion when they competed in X-Factor, and they have gained further notoriety when they were selected to perform at the 2011 and 2012 Eurovision Song Contests for Ireland with their songs ‘Lipstick’ and ‘Waterline’ respectively. Since then the duo have gone on to be runners up in Channel Five’s Celebrity Big Brother and even scored a cameo film role in the cult classic film Sharknado 3.

Joining the Irish lads will be 90s denim clad girl band B*Witched who are known for their hit singles ‘C’est La Vie’, ‘Rollercoaster’ and ‘Blame It On The Weatherman’ and who have also come back to the limelight following an appearance on ITV’s Big Reunion show. The band are also no strangers to Eurovision, with lead singer Edele Lynch having penned a song called ‘Mistaken’ that competed to be the Irish pick in 2012. The song was performed by Celtic Aura and Maria McCool and finished fifth out of five songs, and actually lost out to Jedward (I hope there’s no green room tension!).

Completing the line up will be local social media sensation ‘Frostbit Boy’ and the regular Connected DJs will be on hand to play the latest pop anthems once the acts have performed. Tickets for the cheesy extravaganza are available from the Queen’s University Students’ Union website or in person at the venue and are priced at £10!
