Irish singer and Eurovision representative for the country in 2006, Brian Kennedy has revealed that he has been diagnosed with rectal cancer. The ‘Every Song is a Cry For Love’ singer has revealed that he is receiving treatment for the disease.
Kennedy commented on his treatment on an appearance on Irish radio station Today FM. He told ‘The Last Word’ presenter Matt Cooper that he has just completed two weeks of radiation and chemotherapy treatment. The singer said that the diagnosis had come as a huge shock but that he was incredibly lucky to have caught it in the early stages.
Kennedy is best known for his 1996 songs ‘A Better Man’ and ‘Life Love and Happiness’ which charted at number 28 and 27 respectively in the UK Singles Chart, as well as his cover of World Party’s song ‘Put The Message in the Box’. He also finished 10th for Ireland in the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest and was one of the mentors on the first season of the Voice of Ireland.
Kennedy has advised anyone who has any doubts about their health to get checked out as soon as possible.
