There has been a lot of activity the past few weeks in regards to Eurovision. Most countries have now revealed their artist and song, and if not their national selection shows are well under way and we should have the results later this week. One notable exception to this was Azerbaijan. The Land of Fire has been all too quiet with their 2016 Eurovision plans, however they have revealed earlier today that their pick for Stockholm will be 21 year old singer Samra Rahimli.
Samra has participated in The Voice of Turkey and when she was only 16 she competed to be Azerbaijan’s Eurovision participant in 2012. The title of the song she will sing has also been revealed as ‘Miracle’ and it will make its debut this weekend.
Azerbaijan have one of the best records at Eurovision, always qualifying for the final, having multiple top ten finishes under their belt as well as a win for Ell and Niki in 2011. Will they be able to keep up this good track record? Well have to wait and see when the song is unveiled in a few days’ time. Until then check out Samra’s performance of Miley Cyrus’ ‘Wrecking Ball’ from The Voice.
