The Netherlands were one of the first countries to announce their act for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. It was chosen by an internal selection process which saw folk-country singer-song writer Douwe Bob as their pick. Since then we have been awaiting an announcement regarding the song. Today that wait ended when the video for Eurovision 2016 song ‘Slow Down’ was released.
After a disappointing effort from Trijntje Oosterhuis in 2015, the Netherlands have returned to familiar ground that serves them well. Country-Folk gave the Netherlands their best result ever in 2014 when the Common Linnets finished in second place in a closely fought final with Conchita Wurst. Netherlands have taken Europe’s feedback on board and have searched the country for their best country-folk act, and the result is Douwe Bob.
What do you make of the Netherlands’ song? Is it enough to get them to the final this year?
