Australia had been relatively silent (or is it coy?) on who their Eurovision pick for 2016 would be. This hasn’t stopped many people speculating who it would be. Two names were being touted by various press outlets in the Land of Oz- Delta Goodrem and Australian X-Factor Season 5 winner Dami Im. Earlier this week Delta took to social media to deny that she was involved. Therefore when they broke the silence, it came as no shock that Dami Im would be the pick when it was announced earlier today.
The announcement was made as part of the Sydney Mardi Gras celebrations by 2014 Eurovision winner Conchita Wurst. Conchita was accompanied by Australia’s first ever participant Guy Sebastian. Watch the announcement below:
Dami Im, who was born in South Korea and moved to Australia when she was young, will unveil her Eurovision track next week. Unlike last year Australia will have to qualify for the final by competing in the semi final stages. Will they be able to repeat the success they had last year when Guy Sebastian finished in fifth place?
