Freddie has been crowned the winner of A Dal 2016 and will represent Hungary at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest with his song ‘Pioneer’. The 25 year old from Budapest has had a long slog in the contest qualifying from a heat round and semi final round. He had his work cut out for him with stiff competition from returning Eurovision act Andras Kallay Saunders who represented Hungary in the 2014 contest.
Freddie, Kallay Saunders Band, Petruska and Gergő Oláh were the four acts who advanced to the second round of the final of A Dal, based on the jury’s vote. However in the second round, a public televote, it was Freddie who was triumphant.
As well as performances from the competing entries, there was also a performance from last year’s winner Boggie with ‘Wars For Nothing’ and 2009 Eurovision Winner from Norway- Alexander Rybak.
Freddie will compete in the second semi final at Eurovision on May 12th, with the hopes of advancing to compete in the final two days later. Is Freddie the right choice for Hungary? Let us know who you would have chosen by commenting below.
