Greta Salome will be the Icelandic representative at Eurovision in 2016. The decision came following the live final of Songvakeppnin on Saturday night where her song ‘Her Them Calling’ beat off stiff competition from five other songs.
Greta Salome advanced to the super final of Songvakeppnin alongside Alda Dís Arnardóttir’s ‘Now’. In the first round of voting Alda was ahead of Greta Salome by approx 2,000 votes but when the lines reopened for the Super Final, Greta Salome was ahead.
Guest performances on the night came from Eurovision Winners Loreen and Sandra Kim who sang ‘Euphoria’ and ‘J’aime La Vie’ respectively.
Greta Salome is no stranger to Eurovision, having represented her country in the 2012 Contest as part of a duet with Jonsi with song ‘Never Forget’.
