Greece have remained quiet about their Eurovision plans until now. Earlier today the national broadcaster revealed that they had made their decision through internal selection. It would be Argo (formerly known as Europond) who would represent Greece in 2016.
Why the band have changed their name, it is not known, but one thing that is for sure is that one unlucky member will have to sit it out, as they typically have seven members, but Eurovision rules only allow six people to appear on stage.
The band will consist of Christina Lachana who is the lead singer, as well as five other members; Maria Venetikidou, Vladimiros Sofianidis, Kostas Topouzis, Ilias Kesidis and Alekos Papadopoulos. The band have yet to reveal their song, but they are best known for their folky hard rock sound.
Many other acts had been rumoured to be the pick for 2016 including Mariza Rizou. Rizou confirmed that she had been approached by ERT to sing at Eurovision but the singer declined the offer.
