Melfest got off to a rocky start with it being reported earlier this week that co-host Charlotte Pirelli had to be pulled from her presenting duties due to an existing contract with a commercial advertiser, against the rules of the Melfest contract stipulations.
Now another controversy has arisen with Anna Book’s song ‘Himmel för två’. The song was due to compete in this weekend’s first heat of the competition in Gothenburg, however it has been disqualified.
The reason for the disqualification was due to it not only breaking the rule for having existed prior to September of 2015, but also for having stark similarities to Moldovan song from 2014 ‘Taking Care of a Broken Heart’ by Felicia Dunaf.
To add insult to injury, Book will still have to perform on the show as it was too far into rehearsals to move the song, but will not be eligible to qualify.For the full list of competitors see below:
