We are well and truly into the Eurovision Selection Season. As of today we have a total of 23 out of the 43 songs. This week it will step up another gear again with a number of song presentations, artist selections and national finals. By Sunday we will have another nine songs! France have been teasing us with a variety of photo clues over the past few weeks as to who their artist will be for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. However earlier today they revealed that it would be dental surgeon turned pop star Amir who would be their choice for this year’s contest.
The final of Latvia’ Supernova competition was held earlier this evening and saw crowned Justs as the winner. The ‘Heartbeat’ singer will represent Latvia in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in May.

Our readers have been voting all week for their favourite Eurovision song so far. Thirteen acts were in contention, but it was really a two horse race between Ireland’s Nicky Byrne and Albania’s Eneda Tarifa. Eneda has topped or poll for a second week in a row with 58.05%, while Ireland’s Nicky Byrne is still in second place with 24.81%. The highest new entry of the week was Ukraine’s Jamala who was third with 7.88%.
Norway’s marathon Eurovision selection show Melodi Grand Prix aired tonight. After two hours and ten performers, Norway have selected Agnete’s ‘Icebreaker’ as their entry for Eurovision 2016.
ManuELLA will follow in the footsteps of Maraaya and will represent Slovenia in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. ManuELLA won the Slovenian national selection show EMA 2016, earlier this evening beating off competition from nine other competing acts.
After three semi final rounds over the past three weeks, Finland’s UMK Eurovision selection show staged its final earlier tonight. The act that will represent Finland at Eurovision 2016 will be: Sandhja!
Freddie has been crowned the winner of A Dal 2016 and will represent Hungary at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest with his song ‘Pioneer’. The 25 year old from Budapest has had a long slog in the contest qualifying from a heat round and semi final round. He had his work cut out for him with stiff competition from returning Eurovision act Andras Kallay Saunders who represented Hungary in the 2014 contest.
The Moldovan national selection came to an close with the final of O Melodie Pentru Europa tonight. The winner of the contest was Lidia Isac who won with her song ‘Falling Stars’.
