Last night saw Belarus host their selection show for Eurovision 2016. Ten songs were in the running but ultimately it was Ivan with his song ‘How to Fly’ that was chosen to represent Belarus in Sweden in May.
Alexander Ivanov aka Ivan topped the Belorussian televote with 23,167 votes, just some 800 votes ahead of nearest rival NAPOLI who finished in second with ‘My Universe’. Our readers had voted Kirill as their favourite but the ‘Running to the Sun’ singer only managed to finish in third place.
Ivan will follow in the footsteps of other Belorussian Eurovision entries such as TEO and Alyona who both finished in 16th place in 2014 and 2013 respectively, and will hope to beat the best placing by an act from Belarus which is currently sixth place, set by Koldun’s ‘Work Your Magic’ in 2007.
