Romania has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 17 times, debuting in the 1994 contest. Along with Russia and Greece, Romania has never missed a final since the introduction of the semi-finals in 2004. They have placed in the top ten on five occasions, including two third places which they received in 2005 with Luminița Anghel & Sistem and 2010 with Paula Seling & Ovi. Seling and Ovi returned to Eurovision in 2014 with ‘Miracle’ but couldn’t match their previous success, only placing 12th. Most recently band Voltaj came in 15th with ‘All Over Again’ in 2015.
Belfast gay bar the Kremlin will play host to 2013 German Eurovision representative Cascada. The show will take place on 6th February on the venue’s Red Square stage and will see singer Natalie Horler perform the band’s back catalogue of hits that include ‘Evacuate the Dancefloor’, ‘Everytime We Touch’, cover of Savage Garden song ‘Truly, Madly Deeply’ and of course Eurovision song ‘Glorious’.Continue reading
1994 Eurovision winner Charlie McGettigan will play an ‘In the Round’ concert as part of the 2016 Belfast Nashville Songwriters’ Festival. The festival will take place at various venues in Belfast from 2nd-6th March and other acts include former D-Side Singer turned country singer Derek Ryan, Stephen Bishop, Iain Archer, Liam O’Maonlai and John Spillane.Continue reading
