What can we say about Montenegro’s track record at Eurovision? Hmm, it’s not great. Their first five attempts 2007-2013 all failed in progressing to the final. Things have got slightly better recently with Sergej Ćetković finishing 19th with ‘Moj Svijet’ in 2014 and last year, despite looking alike a creepy uncle at a wedding, Knez pulled off the best Montenegrin result ever with ‘Adio’ coming in in 13th place.
Who is taking on Eurovision duties for Montenegro in 2016? Enter boy band Highway! Highway are a three piece made up of Petar Tošić, Marko Pešić, and Luka Vojvodić. The band came to fame on the second series of X-Factor Adria finishing in fourth place, mentored by Croatian musician Tonči Huljić. The show’s first season was won by Daniel Kajmakoski who represented Macedonia in Eurovision 2015 with ‘Autumn Leaves’.
The band are known for their covers of pop/rock songs in their native tongue including: ‘Par godina za nas’ and ‘Neko te ima noćas’ as well as covers of Arctic Monkeys song ‘Do I Wanna Know’. The band play their own instruments, mainly guitars.
