Today say the third day of rehearsals in Austria’s Wiener Stadhalle Arena. We were given a glimpse at how Norway, Montenegro, San Marino, Lithuania, Ireland, Malta, Czech Republic and Portugal would stage their songs ahead of the semi finals next week. Read on to find out more.
First up were the male/female duos who were hoping that they would be able to show of the chemistry between them and their partners. Kicking things off were Norway’s Morland and Debrah Scarlatt who were pictured wearing white. The staging seems to be quite stripped back and plain, something I hadn’t been expecting given their overtly Gothic themed video and song. Maybe they still have a few surprises up their sleeves!Next we had San Marino’s Anita and Michele who gave their first run through of ‘Chain of Lights’. You can see from the photo below that the song will start out in pitch black with an image of an eclipse in the background having blocked out the sun. Things will most likely brighten up after this to reflect the song’s title.
Third duo now (and my favourite of the competition) Lithuania. I think the chemistry between Vaidas Baumila and Monika Linkyte is unparallelled this year. The two have that likeability factor that verges on High School Musical cheese but never over steps the mark. Below is a photo from their first rehearsals that looks like they have both been engulfed in flames!
Yesterday we were given a sneak peek at Georgia’s ‘Warrior’ staging, and today saw Amber from Malta perform her (different) song ‘Warrior’. Her outfit isn’t as reflective of the ‘Warrior’ theme as Nina Sublatti’s was, none the less she looks amazing in her black lace dress which shows off just the right amount of leg.
Ireland have seemingly gone for a simplistic approach to their staging for the 2015 contest. It would appear that it is just going to be Molly Sterling and her piano, with the real show being her powerful voice. The seventeen year old however will be helped out with some visual aids on the screen behind her that appear to show a forest.
Also taking to the Eurovision stage for the first time today was Vaclav and Marta from Czech Republic, Montenegro’s Knez and Portugal’s Leonor Andrade. Do you have any favourite staging techniques yet? Let us know with your comments below.
Check back tomorrow when we will be taking a look at some preview photos from Israel, Latvia, Azerbaijan, Iceland, Sweden, Switzerland, Cyprus, Slovenia and Poland.
