Former UK Eurovision winner Sandie Shaw shocked fans this week when she revealed that the BBC had snubbed her and prevented her from performing in the line up for the 60th anniversary show later this month. The ‘Puppet On a String’ singer urged her fans to take to social media to lobby the organisers:
‘Hi Guy’s [sic] I have had a few messages asking why I am not doing the Eurovision 60 years celebration I can’t answer the question so why not ask the man organising it here.’
Meanwhile ‘Puppet On A String’ songwriter Bill Martin wasn’t shocked by the news, stating ‘I am not surprised she is not invited. She’s knocked Puppet since she sang it. I always want to tell her to give me the money back.’
Were organisers right to leave Shaw off the list of performers? Which acts not performing would you like to see included? Let us know with your comments below.
