The Greek entry for this year is a welcome break from all the ballads we’ve been inundated with. Pop/Dance vocal duo Freaky Fortune have teamed up with rapper Riskykidd to bring you a catchy and trendy pop song with infectious beat and repetitive lyrics that will have your legs twitching to get up and dance.
Freaky Fortune are perhaps some of the best looking people to grace the Euro-stage this year and RiskyKidd does his best Dappy from N-Dubz impression with an affected Cockney accent. The song’s use of trumpets and fast beat in many ways reminds me of club hit ‘Bom Bom’ by Sam and the Womp a number one hit in the UK in 2012.
The lyrics to the song are effectively about dancing and making people want to ‘Rise Up’ out of their seats and make for the dance floor. If this is the aim of the song I think they can deem it a success story. It is definitely a vast improvement on last year’s ‘Alcohol is Free’ which finished astonishingly in 6th place. Perhaps this year they can inch that little bit closer and take home Eurovision gold.
