We now move from desserts to deserts with our next review; Albania’s ‘One Night’s Anger’. Albania have had a rough time at Eurovision in their ten year history competing. Failing to qualify on four occasions and only placing in the top ten twice. This year sees Hersi, who is both a modern and a classical singer and who has competed in the Albanian selection process a whopping five times despite only being the tender age of 23, take the reins.
She literally takes the reins in her video which shows her style and dress sense to be
versatile confused. As well as being a horse rider she is also a 90’s grunger, a yummy mummy, a hippy water-carrier being pursued by a paraglider, an aggressive bitch who beats up hooded guitarists and a passive smoker walking through the underpass. Cue consecutive fast close ups of: birds…couple kissing…horse!
The song itself is a power ballad that never really takes off, as Hersi warbles her best Shakira-goat-on-a-tumble-dryer impression. The odds have Albania at 200/1 to win, so I don’t think next year’s competition will be in Tirana, however I think their effort is good enough to take them through to the final and will depend on how they stage the performance on the night.
